“The band was doing really good and then we had problems with our drummer. I’m not gonna put anyone or anything on blast, he was just out and we needed a drummer. Kevin was originally a drums so me and him decided we’d just finish the album and he’d play the drums on them. That worked but then Apple wanted a new band photo for Apple Music and we were doing this collaboration and just promo stuff that we needed a band photo. Kevin photoshopped a pic of me and him with a few people, even Animal from the Muppets (Which Kevin loved but felt would be a copyright nightmare). Then he made one with Charlie and it looked like a real band. He asked Charlie about doing the project, explained the idea and he was down so we went for it.” -Jay
Like the band Gorillaz, Which is an animated band never showing the real band, Bliss53 followed in a similar idea. The band would continue to record albums with Kevin taking on the drums, Music videos would have Kevin dressed as the character and Charlie playing the front part of it for promo photos, etc.
